Retail fit out for Frugi
Frugi's first ever retail outlet, taken from concept to completion. Sustainable materials throughout, from FSC certified joinery to recycled entrance matting, delivered to fit a fast-growing ethical brand's first store.
The Brief
Frugi approached us to help develop their concept into their first ever retail outlet at Clarks Village, Somerset. The brand was born in Cornwall by Lucy and Kurt while struggling to find clothing to fit over their son’s cloth nappies, and since 2004 has grown into the UK’s leading ethical and organic children’s clothing brand, now found in over 550 retailers across 30 countries.
Working with Frugi’s designer, the project needed to take a concept through to a fully realised design and material specification, all within the shopping centre’s design guidelines and in keeping with Frugi’s sustainability ethos.
The Solution
Materials were chosen for their sustainability credentials wherever possible. FSC certified products were used for the flooring and the made-to-measure joinery. The entrance barrier matting is manufactured from 80% recycled material and is 100% recyclable at end of life, and even the vinyl graphics are PVC free.
LED lighting was used throughout to keep running energy costs to a minimum, and destratification fans were included in the HVAC system to reduce how long the air conditioning needed to run.
From being handed the keys to handing them back, RRW Shopfitters managed the entire fit out, transforming the unit into what the Centre called the best new brand execution it had seen.
