The Brief

Newquay Airport needed a full refit of their departure lounge retail and café space, following the successful completion of a new bar area we had delivered earlier.

The scope was extensive: demolition, new walls, flooring, tiling, plumbing, electrical and ventilation work, a new food preparation and storage area, and upgraded emergency and general lighting throughout. Bespoke joinery was also required, including a custom café counter, retail shelving and banquette seating, all designed to create a cohesive, modern finish that worked for both the airport and its passengers.

The Solution

Working as main contractor, we managed the entire project in close collaboration with the interior designers, architects and Newquay Airport’s own team. Our in-house joiners crafted all the bespoke elements to the airport’s exact requirements, while we coordinated all trades across the wider build.

The project came with operational constraints. Noisy works had to be scheduled around flight times, strict security protocols observed and the construction area kept clearly segregated from the public throughout.

The result was a transformed departure lounge: modern, efficient and welcoming, delivered without disrupting the airport’s day-to-day operations.
